Hello world!
If you don't know who I am, my name is Sam, and I'm a network engineer and game developer by trade. I've been making games big and small for around 10ish years. I'm excited to share this journey with you all, and I hope you all enjoy hearing my updates (rants) about my development progress (and headaches).
This blog is likely going to always be secondary to my twitter (https://twitter.com/TechnomancerSam) where I'll be posting quicker and smaller updates on progress.
So far though to sum up my progress on my first game that will be released under Mountain Dog Games:
The basic physics for the player movement, sliding, going off ramps, hitting physics objects, etc is done and playable.
The physics between the player and "floor" (ex: Grass, gravel, ice, snow) broke when I implemented a new movement system for better physics collision with objects.
I implemented and tested the network setup with roughly 10 players.
I set up a ranking system for players.
The overall count down system is now in to start a match.
A winner gets announced when they finish a map.
Environmental art pass has been done for a snow mountain scene, lobby screen, and basic buttons have been implemented.
I also finally registered this domain name along with a bunch of other incorporation nonsense.
Just as a rule, I don't like to post videos or images until it's fairly representative of how I'd like the final product. So expect stuff to be text heavy and image / video light until the art assets are ready.
Now that we've gotten all of that out of the way, here's some dog photos: Rory and his new little brother Bam Bam!
